The Great Resignation and Cannabis
The Great Resignation and the cannabis industry were intertwined because of doubts about US cannabis policy. Many investors, companies, and entrepreneurs have pulled out of the industry due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of its policy in the United States.
Effects on the Cannabis Industry
In the US alone, in August 2021, over 4 million people chose to leave their jobs. And most of these individuals did not have another job lined up. According to some industry analysts and thought leaders, quite a few of these workers may migrate to the cannabis industry.
The lack of clarity and direction has left many investors and companies unsure of how to proceed and unable to commit to investments in the industry. This has caused a decrease in investment capital and the number of companies in the industry.
Additionally, the uncertainty has caused many banks and other financial institutions to be wary of engaging in business with cannabis companies, making it more difficult for cannabis businesses to access capital and banking services.
